XaaS – Anything as a Service

With the technology of cloud computing, XaaS is made possible by the fact that many services from the IT sector can be easily outsourced. This allows companies to focus on their core business and focus all resources on them. At the same time, they also benefit from greater flexibility in IT – whether it is about rollout, scalability or timeliness, for example.

The range of services ranges from the services of individual applications as software as a service to the complete infrastructure (IaaS). Today, this can also be made available via cloud computing. Names like SaaS have long been familiar.

The services offered by XaaS, or Everything as a Service, are the matics between IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) and SaaS (Software as a Service). In addition, other terms like mushrooms shoot out of the ground. However, these have yet to prevail.

What advantage does XaaS give companies today?

The key advantage for companies is cost reduction. To do this, they use computing power, platforms, infrastructures, monitoring tasks and many other functions and services of cloud service providers.

The service is paid for, but the company does not have to take care of these services itself, provide its own infrastructure, etc. This leaves them with more resources for their core business.

It is also fast and easy to provide flexibly scalable IT infrastructures and IT services.

XaaS is becoming popular

For example, all services are billed according to their user or usage. This also allows a quick response to changing market requirements.

XaaS has created a single generic term that leads to a better overview, not just for companies.

9 XaaS benefits short & scarce:

  1. Reducing costs
  2. greater flexibility
  3. Better scaling options
  4. Freeing up corporate resources to focus on core business
  5. Fast and easy entry into new technologies and applications
  6. no large investment costs
  7. Rapid market launch of new services
  8. Worldwide delivery of services
  9. Respond quickly to changing market demands

Attention: Data security

When using the SaaS or XaaS service as a whole, special attention must be paid to data security and protection. Personal data is subject to strict GDPR guidelines and compliance requirements.

Companies that process such data should transfer it to a service provider that is subject to the same policies as far as possible. This avoids serious differences in the treatment and disclosure of data.

XaaS using the example of cloud CRM

SaaS (Software as a Service)
The buyer does not receive individual licenses, but only pays for the use of the software. This gives the company permanent access to the latest software version.

PaaS (Platform as a Service)
An environment for setting up the software is integrated. There is no need to pay an additional fee.

IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)
The required server infrastructure is also included. Key word scalability: If necessary, the growth of the company is possible without restriction or time delay.

Is Xaas profitable and, above all, safe?

Using Cloud CRM as an example: Anything as a Service refers to the total performance provided, if possible, via an ISO 27001-certified data center in Germany.

The average cost of this is 59€ mtl. per user. This makes it possible to consider whether outsourcing your CRM system could be profitable for you.

Conclusion: XaaS is the generic term for the services SaaS, PaaS, IaaS etc.

XaaS describes the approach of being able to provide almost everything as a service. XaaS acts as a top handle for this type of service. The already established business models such as SaaS (Software as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) are included.

A good example of Software as a Service is Microsoft Office 365. Here, users work with the well-known Office packages such as Word, Excel etc. via the browser. But the Google apps are also common.

PaaS is a software developer service that provides a computer platform in the cloud to develop web applications. At the moment, the Microsoft azure offering is very present, because a large advertising budget here strengthens awareness.

The IaaS service delivers the classic data center infrastructure from the cloud. Probably the best-known provider of IaaS is Amazon Web Services.

With the increasingly digitised world becoming more and more technologically complex, companies are willing to use these services.
